Last year, before, during and after The Superbowl, which we won, Seattle transformed in a football city beaming with pride, which I’d never seen in my 40 years as a Seattlite.
We don’t really win anything in Seattle, that is until 2014. I decided, on a whim to photograph people around the city decked out in fan gear–this was not hard, because literally every person on the streets was wearing gear with a huge smile.
I shot my portraits on medium format film using my trusty Contax 645, in my home neighborhood of The Central District (woot!), The International District, Pioneer Square, SoDo, Captitol Hill, and Greenwood. These neighborhoods are very different racially and culturally from each other, so it was really fun putting all the portraits together in one place, namely here, the inter-webs.
A special thank you to the people of Seattle and my dear friend Sandy for going out with me on my first photo hunting trip.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers from Cape Town, South Africa,
